team 34220 pre-season registration & training protest religous freedom abuses

Marathon training isn't about doing what's easy but what is worth while.  I'm asking that if you are registered to run the Disney Marathon please consider joining Team 34220. It will not effect your registration or your individual training work but you will be another voice speaking truth to power; yet another American another Christian running the good race protesting the religious freedom abuses in Turkey.

I'm already designing the gear (clothes, wristbands, shoes laces, water bottles, etc) and have secured the domain which will officially host all team-in-training information. I hope this grows into a well integrated social network of believers, athletes, and religious freedom advocates. There is something for everyone.

What greater joy could there be then to integrate health and wellness with fellowship and service. In case you missed it more information can currently be found at http://www.orthopraxisconsulting.com/   refer to 34220 tabs.

I'm glad to report that my second run pre-season run is behind me and that my team has grown by 75%. I even added the Disney Half-Marathon for teens!! The heat it pretty exhausting but I have to admit there were some fluid moments.

Angela, I'm interested in promoting your race in my home parish.

Just a few questions,

So, after a person signs up on Orthopraxis, do they then receive personalized instructions from you on a regimen (in the event there is no other instructor)? Or do you send them some kind of training schedule by email?

Second biggest question. Transportation. I live clear on the other side of the country. I don't know where the Disney Marathon is held, but is there a fund for low income parishes who wish to participate?

I'll look at placing some information in my parish's bulletin.

Great news and blessing to have you on board. I want you to train but stearing committies and facilitators are also essential. This is a pan-orthodox effort. As a part of the team participants through resgistering with 34220 self-identify themselves as individuals interested in running as orthodox christians, activists for huan rights like religious freedoms and hopefully ultimately for the plight of the Ecumenical Patriachate. By registering with me I will 'walk' each participant through the training process and send notifications regularily about significant news regarding running, orthodoxy and the patriarchate. Because there are no fees for this custom tailored service, unlike other team in training groups which charge upwards of $2,500 there is currently no grants available. I don't see how this would prohibit individuals from seeking airfare and hotels accomedations costs from their own fund drives. Monies collected inexcess could go to a fund already established which is donates to the archons. I don't have that exact information and I would want it to go through that account to demonstrate participation and interest. Having said all this, it is possible to train locally and race any race. This is about far more then one race I picked the Disney venue in Orlando because it has great amenities, is very well organzied, it is far enough in thefuture to get people trained, it is relatively warm during January and is family friendly. Once I've posted the gear if people start to wear it (as mentioned earlier) it will spark conversation and interest about the cause, orthodoxy and the great changes that occurs within the lives of participants.

Alas, I won't actually be able to participate myself; school.

However I'm willing to spread the word. I'll see what I can do about slipping something in our parish bulletin and see if anyone is interested.

Well, I don't mean it in a defeatist sort of way. I mean I wouldn't be able to go to Orlando, because I have school. :)
