My run today was better then they have been recently. I got a mental boost by when I reviewed an older running journal. I found my training log from this time last year and I have shaved minutes off my miles and added over 1,000 miles to credit. I want to emphasize the need to document your running activity. The progress is not always obvious in the present moment and it requires reflection and objective markers. Writing down your mileage pace and other pertinent details about your training proves essential in the long term. Unlike traditional diaries which seem artificial this log or documentation is fundamental and it's structure is driven by practicality. Form follows function.
